Known as the king of truffles, the white truffle is the rarest and most prestigious of all truffles. It is widely known all over the world and highly sought after by top chefs and restaurants.
The most renowned places for the white truffle is Alba in Piedmont and Acqualagna in the Marche region, tough it can also be found in other regions. It’s season is from September till December.
It has a strong odour of a complex mixture of methane gas, fermented cheese and garlic. This truffle is to be eaten raw.
